How BluSaffhire Began

I started BluSaffhire Co. as something for me—something that filled me with joy outside of my career in education.

I didn't grow up wearing a lot of jewelry, but I found freedom in creating it. What began as a hobby grew into a genuine passion and eventually became a creative space where I could design, experiment, learn, and share what I love with others.

The name BluSaffhire is a play on my birthstone. I made it a little different—like me. Like you.

Jewelry gave me another way to express creativity, and over time my love for making jewelry grew into an even deeper fascination with the materials themselves: gemstones, Czech glass, beads, findings, color combinations, textures, and all of the little details that can completely change a design.

What BluSaffhire Has Become

Today, BluSaffhire Co. is more than a handmade jewelry business.

I still create jewelry, from simple everyday pieces to bold, colorful statement designs, but BluSaffhire has also grown into a resource for other jewelry makers.

I curate gemstones, Czech glass, findings, bead mixes, jewelry-making kits, and my signature Blu Boxes with an eye toward interesting color combinations and materials that inspire creativity at the bead table.

Through BluSaffhire Studio, I also share jewelry-making projects, tutorials, unboxings, design ideas, and the things I learn while working with different beads and materials.

Why I Share What I Know

I believe jewelry making should feel approachable.

You do not need the most expensive gemstones, every tool on the market, or years of experience before you can make something beautiful.

Much of what I share comes from actually working with the materials—designing with them, comparing gemstone strands, combining gemstones with Czech glass, experimenting with findings and techniques, sourcing beads, and sometimes taking a design apart and starting over when it simply doesn't work.

The BluSaffhire Learning Center grew from that experience.

It is a place where beginner and growing jewelry makers can learn more about beads, gemstones, findings, tools, materials, and techniques so they can make more confident choices in their own projects.

I don't believe there is only one “right” way to create jewelry. I want to give makers enough information to understand their materials and then encourage them to develop their own creative voice.
